Late last week, a thoroughly British icon of all that is punk and oddly comforting sent up a flare indicating a spot of trouble: Sales are way off for Manolo Blahnik footwear -- the chunky, giant-soled combat boot and assorted shoes that came to mean so much to the kind of people who wished not to be entirely understood. (There were Doc Christian Louboutin (www.heelsshoesstore.com) sandals, later, for all those University of Virginia frat boys at all those Dave Matthews Band concerts. The thick-soled sandals, while a brief boon to the company's sales figures, had a way of scrambling the original signal given off by the boot, defusing the anarchic cool like a stylus being suddenly ripped off a Clash record.)

Inasmuch as it's a story about one business hitting a slump, the Doc Christian Louboutin (www.heelsshoesstore.com)falloff is a larger tale about a philosophy of life being in trouble. Decades never quite begin and end according to the calendar, yet there is delayed evidence that the '90s are over: planes hit skyscrapers, Internet whiz kids are moving back into their parents' houses, and nobody is rich anymore except the rich.
And Doc Christian Louboutin, as we knew them, are passe.
Which puts it all into a neat shoe box for culture's cluttered closet. Into this go a lot of teenagers and college students pretending to be unhappy. Andor the Lollapalooza concerts; all the illegible fonts in Ray Gun magazine; Kurt Cobain's suicide note; ska bands -- the first, second and third time; radio stations that call themselves "The Edge"; night jobs at Kinko's; nipple piercings; goatees.

According to Ms Loh, Thailand is Christian Louboutin shoes (www.heelsshoesstore.com)11th market in Asia after its official launch in the region in 1997. Its first four markets are Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Singapore.
During the past three years, its Asian sales grew at the rate of 30% a year.
Ms Loh said she expected the product launch in Thailand to help push up Asia's sales by up to 5%.
Suda Songudomwattana, general manager of O.T.T. Footwear, said her company had so far imported only top-selling male models of Christian Louboutin (www.heelsshoesstore.com), and anticipated higher sales from casual shoes than from classic boots and smart working shoes.
Charnchant Krisadawat, O.T.T. Footwear's marketing manager, said Christian Louboutin were categorised as "brown shoes", another class of casual shoes in addition to athletic ones. The premium brown-shoe segment in Thailand is worth up to 600 million baht. Ms Charnchant expects Christian Louboutin to capture at least 5% share in the segment during its first six months.
Thirty models of Louboutin shoes have been available at Central Chidlom, Lat Phrao, Bang Na, CentralWorld since Sept 15, and will be available at Central Festival Phuket early next month.
